Striker and Captain S.K.A. Dmitry Yashkin leaves the St. Petersburg club, the head coach of the hockey team said on his Telegram channel Romain Rotenberg .
Rotenberg noted that SKA couldn’t meet all of the 30-year-old’s demands.
Yashkin became the top scorer and marksman in the KHL’s final regular season draw and was awarded the best player of the season award.
– Hockey is life, and in life, sometimes you have to part with even friends. Next season SKA will play without Dmitry Yashkin. He was a great captain and he wrote his name in the history of our club. We are sincerely grateful to Dima for a good season, but now our paths diverge.
We were ready to leave Dmitry at SKA and offered him to extend the contract on good terms. However, a healthy club must take into account the salary cap and financial feasibility, so not all player demands can be met. In such a situation, the optimal solution is to leave respectfully and everyone goes their own way,” Rotenberg wrote.
Last regular season, Yashkin played 67 games and scored 62 (40+22) points.
