SKA traded striker Zhafyarov to Ak Bars

Before Damir Zhafyarov following the inappropriate exchange of S.K.A. V “AK Bars” according to the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) press service.

On Wednesday, the head coach of the St. Petersburg team, Roman Rotenberg, announced the departure of the hockey player from SKA on his Telegram channel.

As previously reported by , the Saint Petersburg club have secured the sporting rights of 26-year-old Russian striker Dmitry Osipov, who spent last season in San Diego (AHL), as well as the 24-year-old Swedish goalkeeper Philip Gustafsson, playing last season at Minnesota.

Last season, Damir Zhafyarov scored 44 points (16 goals + 28 assists) in 63 regular season games in the KHL, adding 9 points (1+8) to them in 12 playoff games. SKA in the playoffs reached the Western Conference Finals, where they lost to eventual Gagarin Cup winners CSKA with an aggregate score of 2–4.
