The sports complex, the commissioning of which is scheduled for September this year, received the official name “G-Drive Arena”. The presentation of the name took place on Thursday, within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). The ice complex will become the arena of the hockey club “Avant-garde “.
The construction of the arena is not yet complete. If we talk about the rate of construction, it would probably be wrong to call them unique, but, indeed, the arena is built very quickly. Not even two years have passed, but we see that it is almost finished. As just mentioned, the state of completion is currently 80%, and we have no doubt that in the summer we will finish construction and the team will be able to start using the arena for training. And in September, from the start of the hockey championship, respectively, the arena will be open to fans, and the Avangard hockey club will begin to hold their home games in this new arena.
This arena, first of all, was built for Avangard and for Avangard, a team beloved not only by the people of Omsk, but also, in principle, by Russian hockey fans, to play home games. But this arena will also make it possible to host various events – both sporting: martial arts, basketball, volleyball, various sports, and others, including cultural ones, such as concerts, – Dyukov told reporters in SPIEF margin.
The head of the Avangard board, Alexander Krylov, noted that thanks to his media activity, the Omsk team deserved to be the most desirable club in terms of sponsors, which is why the name was selected.
— We all put our heart and soul into the arena and are excited to open it in September. I would like to say that Avangard, with its game on the sports field and its great activity in the media field, has recently deserved to be called the most desirable club in terms of sponsors to place their advertising names on the sectors of the hockey club and in the arena. We thought about how to secure stable funding for the club and announced a business competition for the branding of the arena. There were many applicants, but we chose the most worthy and long-term partner who has been with Avangard for a long time. We specifically designed the Avangard Museum and the Omsk Hockey Museum (where club legends will be celebrated) on the new arena,” Krylov added.
The XXV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum takes place from June 15 to 18. Gazprom-Media Holding is the general media partner of SPIEF-2022.
