Alexander Ovechkin received gratitude from the President of the Russian Federation, Dynamo said in a statement.

Ovechkin is a Stanley Cup winner and three-time world champion. The Russian, with 822 goals, ranks second on the NHL’s top scorers list, behind only Canadian Wayne Gretzky (894).

The striker played for the Blue and Whites from 2001 to 2005, as well as in the 2012/13 season.
