The NHL has informed Tampa and Colorado that it will not allow Russian players to bring the Stanley Cup back to their home country.

NHL Assistant Commissioner Bill Daly has notified players of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Colorado Avalanche that the Stanley Cup will not be going to Russia this summer, reports North American journalist Frank Servalli on the networks social.

It should be noted that was the first to report on May 16 that the NHL would not allow Russian players to bring home the Silver Bowl.

The Colorado Avalanche defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 in overtime in Game 1 of the series. The second game of the confrontation is scheduled for June 19.

Russians Andrey Vasilevsky, Nikita Kucherov and Mikhail Sergachev play for Tampa, Valery Nichushkin plays for Colorado.
