Athletistic/Hockey. The statistics of the victories in the final series of the Stanley Cup were published by the press service of the National Hockey League. It’s about teams that managed to bounce back in series from losing 1-3.
In total, this has only been done once in NHL history. During the 1941/1942 season, the Toronto Maple Leafs managed to win (9-3, 3-0, 3-1) while they lost the series 1-3 (2-3, 2- 4, 2-5, 4:3) against the Detroit Red Wings to win the Stanley Cup.
Additionally, five more times the teams managed to tie the series score 1–3, but were defeated in Game 7. This happened in the 1944/1945 season, when Detroit managed to tie the score with Toronto, but lost in the seventh meeting. Then the “Red Wings” even lost 0-3. In the 1953/1954 season, the Montreal Canadiens tied the game with Detroit in the series, but also lost in the seventh game.
In the 1986/1987 season, the Philadelphia Flyers tied the final with the Edmonton Oilers, but lost 3-4 in Game 7. In the 1993/1994 season, the Vancouver Canucks managed to bounce back 1-3, but lost to the New York Rangers in the deciding game. Finally, the last comeback came in the 2005/2006 season, when Edmonton tied the score with the Carolina Hurricanes 1-3, but were beaten in the seventh game.
Recall that at this time the score in the final series of the Stanley Cup between the “Florida Panthers” and the “Vegas Golden Knights” is 3-1 in favor of “Vegas”. The next Game 5 of the National Hockey League playoff final will take place on the night of June 14 and will start at 3:00 a.m. Moscow time.
