Former Russian national team head coach Vladimir Plushev believes Russian “Vegas” forward Ivan Barbashev helped win the Stanley Cup, but hockey is a team game.
Vegas defeated Florida 9-3 in Game 5 of the NHL Finals series at home to win the series 4-1. Barbashev previously won the Stanley Cup in 2019 with St. Louis.
“Vegas has been moving towards this for a long time. The team has a very correct composition, good technical and tactical work. A team was created capable of solving big problems.
If Vegas got the Stanley Cup so quickly, then the preseason selection and work was well built. As for Barbashev, each player brings his own to the team. He integrated well into the team, understood the technical and tactical scheme of the coaches, competently disposed of his skills and brought certain results. He helped the team. But hockey is a team game,” Plyushchev told the Championship.
After leaving St. Louis, Barbashev played 45 games for Vegas, including the playoffs, and scored 34 (13+21) points.
