Washington rookie Max Pacioretti named team striker Alexandra Ovechkina the NHL’s top scorer.
On the eve of 34 years, Pacioretti signed a contract with the Capitals for one season.
“It was a unique situation for me. I’ve never been a free agent before and obviously there were a few scenarios after the injury about where I could play. In the end, I just thought ‘Washington’ is a great opportunity for me to come back and prove that I’m still the player I once was, and I’m able to get back to that level and score goals,” Pacioretti quoted The Athletic.
The hockey player also noted Russian striker and team captain Alexander Ovechkin.
“Ovi is obviously the best sniper ever played. I can learn a lot from him,” Pacioretti added.
The 34-year-old played for the Carolina Hurricanes last season. Most of the season Pacioretti missed due to injuries, he only played 5 regular season games and scored 3 (3+0) points.
