Athletistic/Hockey. National Hockey League (NHL) deputy commissioner Bill Daley spoke about the status of Russian goaltender Ivan Fedotov’s contract. In May 2022, Fedotov entered into an agreement with the Philadelphia Flyers team, but in the summer of that year he was drafted into the army.
“Yes, he has a valid contract which has been registered by the league,” Daly told TASS news agency.
Recently there were reports that Fedotov should sign a contract with CSKA. However, if there is a valid agreement with the NHL team, the goaltender will not be able to do so. The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) turned to the NHL with a request regarding the situation with Fedotov.
In the summer of 2022, Fedotov was detained in St. Petersburg and sent north to do military service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In the summer of 2023, Fedotov completed his service.
