New General Manager “Spartacus” Sergei Belykh you will have to get used to the realities of football after working in hockey, the former general manager of the red-whites told Youri Zavarzine .
Spartak announced the appointment of Belykh on Friday, the specialist will take up his post on August 1. Previously, the 41-year-old official was general director of the Omsk Avangard hockey club.
– Would it be a good decision to appoint someone from another sport to the club?
“In my opinion, no. Football is different from hockey. He comes in an area where he is not very competent, in hockey he had a slightly different job. The executive director is only responsible for the economy and must be professional enough. A situation is to deal with the stadium, the surface. If it’s related to the sports component, it’s not very reasonable.
– That is to say that Belykh will still have to get used to the realities of football?
– Without a doubt. Where is the hockey and where is the football? If everything was so simple, everyone would still go to work in different sports. But anything can happen, he may as well show himself in a new position. Nobody excludes it. However, everything needs time, and there is no time. We have to win medals,” Zavarzin told .
Spartak took third place in the Russian league in the 2022/23 season.
