There is no physically signed MOU with the NHL, as both sides continue to honor each other’s contracts – KHL

Continental Hockey League (KHL ) told that between the KHL and NHL there is no physically signed memorandum, but the leagues continue to honor and respect each other’s contracts.

On Saturday, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly told that the memorandum of understanding between the KHL and the NHL is not currently in effect.

– There is no physically signed memorandum between the leagues, while both sides continue to abide by and respect each other’s contracts, exchange emails on labor issues and continue to be guided by its standards in their work.

At the same time, the KHL believes that the situation with Ivan Fedotov does not fall within the memorandum, since the player did not sign a valid contract with the NHL club for the 2023/24 season in the sense provided for in the TV.

On Saturday, CSKA Moscow announced the signing of a contract with goalkeeper Fedotov until the end of the 2024/25 season, the league officially registered the deal. In May 2022, the hockey player signed a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers NHL club for one year.

However, in the summer of 2022, Fedotov was called up for military service in the armed forces. In June, the Flyers announced that 26-year-old Fedotov had been extended until the end of the 2023-24 season.

The KHL reported that the league and the club, based on information and documents received from the NHL, assume that Fedotov has not signed a valid agreement with Philadelphia for the 2023/24 season in the sense that has been defined in the memorandum of understanding.

Daley then said playing Fedotov at the Army Club would be against his contractual obligations with the Flyers.
