hockey specialist Leonid Weisfeld admitted to RB Sport that he was surprised by the striker’s departure Nailya Yakupova of the Vanguard.
On Tuesday, July 11, Neftekhimik announced the transfer to the club of 2021 Gagarin Cup winner Nail Yakupov. The agreement with the 29-year-old hockey player is designed for one year.
“I was surprised Avangard didn’t leave Yakupov,” Weisfeld said. “There may not have been an agreement on the money. He struggled with injuries last season but scored half a point per game. As I understand it, in Nizhnekamsk Yakupov wants to revive his career. And why not do it at home? There is some logic here.
– Will Yakupov be one of the leaders of Neftekhimik?
– In the locker room, yes. And on ice – why not? Neftekhimik has a young team and few experienced players.
Yakupov played for Avangard last season. The striker played 253 games in the KHL and scored 138 points (70+68).
