Sports director “Frets” Rafik Yakubov spoke about working in the transfer market and finding candidates who will fill the positions of foreign players in the team.
Earlier, Yakubok told that Czech striker Ostap Safin would refuse from the Czech national team in order to break into the Russian national team in the future, he wouldn’t get legionnaire status.
– One of the most exciting questions for fans in recent weeks is related to the appearance of foreign players in Lada. When should we expect them?
– The works are in progress, but we are in no rush and at the beginning the list was generally thin. Fans have to understand that we spent most of May figuring out how to preserve those guys from last year’s Lada roster that we wanted to see, since every hockey player in the system had previously received unrestricted free agent status as part of the club’s transition to the KHL. There are only three Legionnaires positions this season and we don’t want to make a mistake. At the moment, we plan to take one defender and two forwards.
– That is, Ostap Safin, who recently came to see Lada from the Czech Republic, is not considered a legionnaire?
– Yes, he will not be considered a legionnaire in the KHL once all the remaining documents are completed. Safin has renounced his Czech nationality and should soon receive a Russian passport.
– The team now has seven hockey players under trial contract. Isn’t that too much?
– I don’t think it’s a lot. The team is almost going again, so we need a choice, ”said Lada’s press service, citing Yakubov.
