Moscow Sports Director Dynamo HC Alexey Sopin says the club didn’t try to humiliate the striker Ivan Igumnova your contract proposal.
– Some Dynamo fans think that the bilateral contract offered to Ivan Igumnov was a humiliation for the player? It was simply a qualifying offer, which could be different from the final contract. On our side, Ivan qualified with a pay cut to test the market. We wanted to see if there would be a bidder to buy out his contract. There was no particular excitement. Now they were going to sit down at the negotiating table with Ivan, trying to find common ground, and the terms of the contract may differ from those originally announced.
In no way were we trying to humiliate the player with such a proposal. It was just a financial story with a desire to see the market reaction. Ivan would like to express nothing but great gratitude and say thank you for all the seasons spent with Dynamo. We are not disappointed with his last season. In terms of stats, he generally played better than the previous two years. It’s just that sometimes there comes a time when the player needs to change the image, and the club is considering other options,” Sopin told The Championship.
Previously, Avangard and Dynamo Moscow exchanged hockey players. Igumnov became an Avangard player, signing a 2-year contract with the club, and Dynamo received the rights of defender Artem Kulakov and monetary compensation.
Last season, Igumnov played 47 matches for Dynamo, during which he scored 16 points (5+11).
