NHL players’ union negotiates hockey players’ participation in 2026 Olympics

National Hockey League Players’ Union (NHLPA) executive director Marty Walsh said work is underway with the NHL and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) to bring North American League players to the 2026 Olympics.

The 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang (South Korea) and the 2022 Games in Beijing (China) were held without the participation of NHL players.

– I concentrate to try to achieve it (the return of the Enkhaelites to the Olympics). I’m working with IIHF Commissioner Gary Bettman and I hope we can come to an agreement and move forward.

Many players around the world want to play for their country. They want to participate in the best of the best tournaments. They want to be part of it, — quotes the words of Walsh ESPN.

The 2026 Olympics will be held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
