The general director of “Caroline” spoke about the negotiations on the transfer of Tarasenko

NHL Club General Manager “Carolina Hurricanes” Don Waddell commented on the news about negotiations with the Russian striker Vladimir Tarasenko who remains on the free agent market.

Tarasenko spent the second half of last season with the New York Rangers, where he ended up after being traded from the St. Louis Blues. The average salary under the 31-year-old hockey player’s last contract was $7.5 million per year.

– We are continuing negotiations with the hockey player and his agent. The salary cap is an issue for many teams. The cap has increased by $1 million (to $83.5 million). That’s why there’s been so little movement in the league this summer. There are still some very good players waiting for offers. But right now the clubs don’t have enough room under the salary cap to take them all,” Waddell said, as quoted by the NHL website.

Earlier, negotiations with Tarasenko’s representatives were led by Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion.

Tarasenko is the owner of the Stanley Cup, World Championship silver medalist. In the NHL regular season, the Russian played 675 games and scored 574 points (270 goals and 304 assists). In the playoffs, he has 64 points (44+20) in 97 games.
