During the offseason in the National Hockey League (NHL), a hockey player “New York Rangers » Artemi Panarin he came on vacation to Russia, where he visited his native Korkino in the Chelyabinsk region, and also managed to organize a master class in Moscow with the participation of several NHL players.
caught up with the Russian striker to talk about the transformation of Panarin’s image, the birth of a child, notable personalities in Artemy’s career and the development of children’s hockey in Russia.
“I’VE HAD THE IDEA TO SHAVE CURLS FOR A FEW YEARS. THE VERSION THIS IS TO GET RID OF THE BAD IS NOT CRAZY!”
– Where are your curls, which we have become accustomed to throughout your career?
– Shaved curls. They are now hanging out somewhere near the Novgorod region. I just wanted.
– In one of the network documents it was said that by doing this you want to get rid of all the bad things that happened last season. It’s bullshit ?
“It’s not that easy to get rid of it. If everything was so simple, everyone would do it. Complete absurdity! There are many versions on the Internet. I already stopped listening to this story (laughs). In fact, I think I harbored this idea for a few years. Do you think to do or not to do?! Did!
– What will you be this season in terms of image?
– The same as now. And then we’ll see how it goes.
– Did you spend part of the summer in Korkino (Chelyabinsk region) this way?
Yes, I stayed there for a week and a half, almost two. Bald fit in there. Stand in his place. In general, I was naked (shows bald head). I shaved my head, so now I’m overgrown.
Is Korkino now different from the Korkino of your childhood?
– According to the perception for me, of course, everything is the same. There is development in all cases. A few fancy sports complexes have been built. A large number of sports opportunities for young people. This makes me happy!
And the feeling of my soul in Korkino is as classy as before.
– You have a child. Has the heir ever visited the pope’s homeland?
– There was, they showed it to my grandparents, his great-grandmothers. Everyone is happy, everything is fine.
– You did not announce the birth of a child. We here in Russia, in fact, learned about his birth from an interview with Alexei Kovalev, who somehow gave up, and then everything went on. Was it a surprise for you? Didn’t you offend Kovalev for that?
– In general, I was not offended. I didn’t really think about it. I didn’t see the point of letting you know.
– What unites you to Alexei?
– We are neighbors. Now we live nearby. But it already has a lot in common besides the neighborhood. Sometimes there are joint dinners with the families.
“THANK YOU TO ALL THE TRAINERS I HAVE HAD. EVEN TO THOSE WHO DID NOT START ME OR SHOULD NOT RETIRE ME”
– If you choose a triple, which would you consider as the triple of your life? The one who was in the SKA championship with Vadim Shipachyov and Evgeny Dadonov? Or with Patrick Kane? Was this the next level?
“I won’t choose for obvious reasons. It was great there and there. Just Shipachev – Dadonov – that was just the very beginning. And with Kane and Artem Anisimov [в «Чикаго”] – it’s already a slightly different turn, but it’s also the beginning, only on a different level, of course. But that doesn’t mean we couldn’t have played at the highest level with a troika with Shipachev and Dadonov. A big thank you to all these guys for bringing us together in life, and I had a lot of fun playing with them, with everyone.
– Is the head coach of your Russian team part of your career Valery Bragin or Vyacheslav Bykov?
– (Laughs). The questions are really difficult! And it seems to me that it is unrealistic to answer it, because there is no way to choose only one person. Everyone participated, put a lot of effort into my development on some level, so to speak. One gave me a general vision of the world of hockey, and the second has already found me a more permanent use in the season. Many thanks to them too! And in addition to them, to all the coaches I’ve had! Even those who didn’t put me in or kick me out. It worked well for me.
– Was there a player in the Russian teams who helped you grow mentally? Helped in some purely hockey stuff?
– Probably, I would mention Daniil Evgenievich Markov. Not only did he teach me these little tricks, but he was like a father to me. It was even expressed in this (swings): “Go into the hall!” I liked this approach. I loved it. We still communicate well with him to this day. He is a great professional in his field.
— And what city is your hometown now: Moscow, St. Petersburg, New York? Where do you feel comfortable?
– In general, I feel good everywhere. Korkino will never cease to be my city as my homeland, that will not happen. Yes, I now live in St. Petersburg. I already have a large number of friends. But for the state of my soul, Korkino will always be in my heart anyway. I hope life gives you chances to go there every year and spend time there. In any case, Russia is the motherland. I think those who have lived abroad for a long time, or who live now, understand what I am talking about. Or I’m such a simple person who can’t find such feelings anywhere else.
– Sentimental?
– Very!
“In addition to finances, there is another deep idea in everyone’s life”
— You give master classes at Arena Play in Moscow. Why exactly this place?
– In general, we have a common project with the guys. Here I try in the summer, out of season, to please the children a little, to communicate more with the coaches, perhaps to transmit my administrative vision to a team that manages all that. There is movement, I am very happy that the work went well.
Everybody is happy! The guys have their own team, the children have their development.
In the future, we may think about more serious things, because children also need to grow up. And here we are trying to instill in coaches that there should be an idea, because now in the world the idea is disappearing in many places and becoming practical. And for me it’s sad. I remember my coaches, I understand their salary today. When you’re a kid you don’t think about their life, but now I understand what kind of people were burning and burning (they still work like a lot of kids coaches)!
– So there were no tricks?
– There were tricks, there are goalkeeper training. You go to goalkeeper training. You sign up to throw at the goaltenders. This is your loot. And the coaches themselves worked with their soul. And I hope we’re not all lost yet. And people will understand that in addition to finances – which are equally important for everyone – there is also a deep idea in everyone’s life of what they want to do. If they are children, I think it will be great, for our country in the first place. As for each individual, of course, so for the country!
