Vanguard Coach Alexander Svitov spoke about his work in the Omsk team and talked about the favorite for the next KHL season.
Svitov graduated from Avangard. He played for the Omsk club from 1999 to 2002 and from 2007 to 2010.
– How are you doing at Avangard, where you are now part of the technical staff?
– A slightly different side of the coin. Barricades, so to speak. Before you were on the bench, now behind the bench. Hockey is pretty much the same thing. Does it shake? No, it’s not moving at all. All my life you can see a clearing from the bench, here you just stand a little higher and see yourself. You already follow a little for the others… For all the guys, for what tasks are fixed on the ice, arrangements and so on.
– What will be the “Vanguard”?
– The team has been updated. We will try to build a good team. First of all, it has to be a cool team, and not every man for himself. A lot of new guys, you have to work and rally them, put them all together to be one.
“What do you think of Ak Bars?” Is it an Eastern favorite?
– The composition is very correct. There’s no scrap receipt, as they say, but you know…
– Order beats class if class is not in order?
— (smiles) Let’s see spring! — quotes the words of Svitov Metaratings.ru.
Last season, Avangard reached the semi-finals of the Gagarin Cup, where they lost in the series to Ak Bars with a score of 1-4.
