Fans criticized the form of the Finnish hockey clubJokerite saying that the two red stars printed on the team’s white jersey are associated with Russia.
Jokerit wore the red stars during the pre-season tournament last week. Such an action became part of the club sponsor’s advertising campaign.
We apologize to all the fans. Together with our sponsor, we have made the decision to change the color of the stars for future games,” Jokerit said in a statement.
The color of the stars on the white sweater will now be blue, on the blue jersey the stars will be white.
Jokerit has been playing in the KHL since 2014. In 2022, amid the situation in Ukraine, the Helsinki club decided to withdraw from the league.
