Former KHL club defender Nikita Shields shared his expectations of returning to “AK Bars” attacker Evgeniya Svechnikova .
Ak Bars announced on Friday the signing of a two-year contract with Svechnikov, 26. The forward was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2015 NHL Draft, 19th overall. The Russian also played for the Winnipeg Jets and the San Jose Sharks, played in 172 league games and scored 45 points (20 goals and 25 assists).
“I think it’s a great decision. Svechnikov is a good player. He has proven himself in the NHL and will strengthen Kazan with his experience. Evgeny will fall into the good hands of coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov.
Svechnikov has strong international experience, having played in the NHL and North American minor leagues. It’s great that a good promising player is coming back to our league. He will decorate and play it in a different way. Maybe in time Svechnikov will return to the NHL. It’s great that Kazan is now gathering a pretty strong team. They are doing something that will catch the attention of fans across the country. I’m sure this team will sell out in other cities. We don’t have many qualified teams. It should be noted that Ak Bars has done a great job in the market. He is one of the main contenders for the Gagarin Cup, – quotes the words of Shchitov “RB Sport”.
