Club General Manager “Carolina Hurricanes” Don Waddell said the Russian striker, who had recovered from injury, Andrei Svechnikov must be ready for the start of the 2023/24 NHL season.
Svechnikov suffered damage to the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee joint in March, he required surgery. In mid-July, the 23-year-old Russian started training on the ice.
– In July, four months after the operation, Svechnikov went on the ice and trained without any contact. Six months will pass before the start of training camp. He is on schedule or maybe even ahead of schedule. Andrei wants to play, but we will be careful. October is an important month, but over time the season becomes even more important. I expect Svechnikov to be ready for the start of the season, – the NHL website quotes Waddell.
The new NHL season begins October 11.
Svechnikov played in 347 regular league games for Carolina, scoring 264 points (112 goals and 152 assists). In the playoffs, the striker scored 13 goals and assisted his partners 12 times in 40 games.
