“I am a coach on the bench, at home I am a father.” HC Lokomotiv Bout coach spoke about working with his son

Yaroslavl coach Lokomotiv Anton Bout spoke about his return to his home club and also assessed the hockey team’s prospects for the season.

Anton Bout’s son, Danill Bout, plays in the Lokomotiv system. The 18-year-old forward was selected by Arizona in the 2023 NHL Draft in the first round, 12th overall.

– You are a student of the club, one might say, a legend. How was the return? Who invited you to the technical staff?

Thanks a lot for the caption. It’s such a joint decision: both the club president, the head coach and mine. It seems to me that I can help with something, strengthen the attack. Transfer your knowledge and experience.

– Will the pressure on your son increase in connection with your appointment?

– Not from me. Coaching staff – too. Maybe from someone else. I can’t say anything here. On the bench I am a coach, at home I am a father. Nothing has changed here.

– There is an expression: “The player is shaking before the game, the coach – the whole game.” Did you feel it for yourself?

The very meaning of this expression is clear, it is correct. Of course, the coaches live the whole game. In fact, like the players. Only during the game they don’t have time to worry – they have a lot of other things to worry about. They may have some pre-launch anxiety, but that’s normal.

– From which young player do you expect a breakthrough next season?

We expect a breakthrough from everyone. First, the team.

— How can you characterize the style of Lokomotiv?

– You know, it’s such a shortcut for commands: “style” or “system”. As banal as it may seem, the goal is the same: to miss as little as possible in defense, to score as much as possible in attack. We only work on this, because it is the only thing that can bring results, – Metaratings.ru quotes Bout.

Anton But started his playing career with the Yaroslavl club in 1998 and defended the colors of Lokomotiv until 2006. Then Bout played for SKA, CSKA, Metallurg Magnitogorsk, Yugra, again for Lokomotiv, Diesel and Severstal. In 2015, Bout ended his career as a hockey player.
