Tolchinsky has been playing for Avangard Omsk since 2020, the contract with which the hockey player expired at the end of the season has ended. In the 2020/21 season, the striker from the Omsk club won the Gagarin Cup. Now Tolchinsky has signed a five-year contract with SKA.

Last season, Tolchinsky scored 56 (16 goals + 40) points in 68 regular season games, adding 7 (5 + 2) points in 14 playoff games. The Omsk club reached the final of the Eastern Conference, where they lost to Ak Bars (1–4).
