Athletistic/Hockey. On Monday, August 14, we learned of the tragic event. Russian hockey player Rodion Amirov has died aged 21. He played for Salavat Yulaev and was preparing to move to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Amirov battled cancer for two years. Toronto captain John Tavares spoke about it.
– It is incredibly difficult to realize the loss of Rodion. His smile and joy of living and playing hockey were contagious. My teammates and I are grateful for the time spent with him and forever inspired by his courageous struggle. Condolences to his loved ones. He will be greatly missed,” Tavares wrote on social media.
