SKA will transfer prize money for winning pre-season tournament to Rodion Amirov’s family

S.K.A. will donate one million rubles in prizes to the family of deceased hockey player Rodion Amirov for winning the pre-season tournament “FHR Championship – 3 × 3 – Sochi XHL Stavok League”, the head coach said of the St. Petersburg team Roman Rotenberg.

On Monday, the death of Amirov, 21, was reported by officer Dan Milstein. In February 2022, the then 20-year-old hockey player was diagnosed with a brain tumor; in April of the same year, the player underwent chemotherapy courses.

– The news of the untimely death of our friend Rodion Amirov deeply shocked everyone in our team – coaches, players, staff. As you remember, last week SKA became the winner of the Sochi XHL Stakes League tournament and won one million rubles. Today we decided together to transfer this money to the family of Rodion Amirov. Our friend Rodion, we will never forget you! – Rotenberg wrote on the Telegram channel.

Amirov graduated from Salavat Yulaev. He has 10 goals and eight assists in 79 KHL games. Amirov was selected 15th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft by Toronto. In April 2021, the Russian signed a three-year rookie contract with the Canadian club.
