Athletistic/Hockey. Sports analyst Vasily Utkin has expressed his thoughts on Russian goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov’s contract situation. As you know, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has decided to impose a one-year ban on international transfers for CSKA and disqualify Fedotov for four months.
“Football is an area of humanism in Russian sport, compared to hockey, of course. Remember the case of CSKA goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov. He played a huge role in the last Winter Olympics, the last, perhaps for a long time, in which the Russian team won a silver medal. He was clearly the best player on the team.
Anyway, remember how he was sent to the army for an entire year, as soon as we learned that he was going to join the Philadelphia team in the NHL? Well, you can talk a lot about the fact that the army is everyone’s duty, but it’s funny that CSKA head coach Sergei Fedorov also claimed that he served for two years. You and I have seen how this “service” went on the ice.
And in the end, Fedotov serves a year, and it turns out that his contract with Philadelphia is still in effect. Everyone believes in it, except CSKA. Now Ivan Fedotov has been banned from all sites controlled by the International Ice Hockey Federation, as the contract with Philadelphia is still in effect. And CSKA receives a one-year transfer ban.
I just can’t figure one out. Ivan Fedotov is a goalkeeper and goalkeepers are special people. Yes, he had to serve in the army, but there were already pictures of him from Dubai, where he went after his military service. By the way, he became a senior sailor in the Northern Fleet. He even played hockey there. Now, however, this is no longer possible. Okay, he’s already been to Dubai. Why not fly to Philadelphia for a few days and find out what’s going on there? If you want, you stay, if you want, you leave.
As a result, the guy’s life is ruined. And why? For the International Ice Hockey Federation to turn a blind eye to Russian contracts? How many young hockey players will now violate contracts? If you don’t respect other people’s documents, then how can you expect yours to be respected? I absolutely do not share the position “NHL is good, KHL is bad”. No way.
Is that how you can just give young hockey players the way to North America, regardless of agreements? And Matvey Michkov, it seems to me, will be one of them. If you don’t know, he’s a very talented hockey player who hasn’t been to Russia for a long time. What do you think, how many of these hockey players, ignoring the documents, will go west? It’s impossible to see the logic in this situation,” Utkin said on his YouTube channel.
