Dmitry Kvartalnov: “Ivan Fedotov is a master, a player. Pucks don’t fly off him”

Head coach of the Minsk “Dynamo” Dmitry Kvartalnov in an interview with commented on the match of the CSKA goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov .

CSKA beat Dynamo Minsk 3-2 in a pre-season game on Saturday. The army team scored three goals at the start of the second period – Konstantin Okulov, Pavel Karnaukhov and Ivan Yanchenko scored. In the first half of the match, Fedotov defended the gates of CSKA, in the second – Vsevolod Skotnikov.

– What can you say about the game? You played against the champion.

– All the same, CSKA had an experimental team, a lot of young people. But a champion is a champion. We lost 10 minutes of the second period in the play-off. CSKA played very simply, but played so well that they scored three goals for us. We couldn’t escape the 0:3 score. It was hard, but it’s great that then we pull ourselves together and that we were able to hold on to this game. But that did not work.

– What was Ivan Fedotov’s game like for you?

He is a master, a player. We started the game well. If you remember the first five minutes, they played very well. But Fedotov is the kind of guy whose pucks don’t fly. He has everything he needs.

– How could Dynamo Minsk keep Aleksey Kolosov on loan, despite being signed by Philadelphia?

This question is not for me. But we are definitely counting on Kolosov,” Kvartalnov told .

Kvartalnov led CSKA from 2014 to 2017. During this off-season, he was appointed head coach of Dynamo Minsk.
