CSKA head coach Sergei Fedorov explained to how his team is preparing for the new season.
On Saturday, CSKA beat Dynamo Minsk 3-2 in a pre-season game. The army team scored three goals at the start of the second period – Konstantin Okulov, Pavel Karnaukhov and Ivan Yanchenko scored.
– You do not load the team with cylinders, CSKA only prepares for two weeks, skating a lot and doing game exercises. Does it look like an NHL model?
– We charged the guys very seriously, just by slightly different methods. We found other options.
– Will this base be sufficient to be ready on September 1st?
– Figuratively speaking, we climbed a mountain. Then we will have a few days off and we will begin to calmly reduce the load. We are going to drive a lot, work on tactics. We should be in more or less good physical and tactical shape by September 1, Fedorov told .
CSKA have won two Gagarin Cups in the last two KHL seasons. On September 1, the Army team will fight in Moscow with Ak Bars for the Opening Cup as part of the launch of the new KHL Championship.
