Defender CSKA Nikita Nesterov told that the confrontation with the Cherepovets “Severstal ” in the first round of the playoffs was the most difficult test for the team on the way to the Gagarin Cup last season.
Last season, in the first round of the playoffs, Sergei Fedorov’s team beat Severstal in seven games, losing 1-2 in the series. After that, the Red-Bleu defeated Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (4-3), SKA Saint Petersburg (4-2) and Ak Bars Kazan (4-3) and won the Gagarin Cup.

– The first series against Severstal. It only seemed that Cherepovets was inferior to us in status. Maybe the names aren’t that famous. But they just started to overwork us, making non-standard decisions. Paz-perepaz, they were hard to read. And the guys weren’t afraid to play. And everything worked out for them,” Nesterov told .
On September 1, the Moscow Army team will fight at home with Ak Bars for the Opening Cup as part of the start of the new KHL Championship season.
