CEO “Salavat Yulayev” Rinat Bashirov said that the hockey player Rodion Amirov was the best student in the Ufa club.
On Monday, a farewell ceremony for Amirov takes place in Ufa. The death of the hockey player was known on August 14. In February 2022, the player was diagnosed with a brain tumor and in April of the same year, the 21-year-old Salavat graduate underwent chemotherapy courses.
– Without exaggeration, we can say that he was the best student in our club. We have always given him as an example, his performance, his attention to sport. He has been very professional since childhood. When he died there was a tragedy for the club, the parents and the republic.
During his 1.5 years of struggle, all the guys understood how difficult it was for him. Hockey players always have a rule in the game: “Never give up”, he was able to transpose this into life. He supported the guys, didn’t let them be sad. He gave us no reason to doubt that he would not overcome the disease. Everything happened quickly. Only now do we realize that we lost it,” Bashirov said on the air of the program “All for the match” on “”.
Amirov played 79 KHL games for Salavat Yulaev, scoring 18 points (10+8). He was selected 15th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2020 NHL Draft.
