Athletistic/Hockey. Continental Hockey League Vice-President Valery Kamensky expressed his thoughts on the situation regarding the contract of CSKA goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov and the actions of the International Ice Hockey Federation in relation to the player and the club.
“Now there is a difficult situation with the IIHF. Apparently the KHL is not completely independent as a league. At the moment we are facing some difficulties associated with the IIHF. In the case of Fedotov , a more rational approach would be to reach an agreement between the clubs directly, bypassing the mediation of the IIHF. If CSKA and Philadelphia solved all the problems directly, perhaps the situation would be calmer.
I believe that the KHL should aim for greater independence and limit the influence of the IIHF on itself. However, complete separation of IIHF is not recommended. The Russian Ice Hockey Federation should keep in touch with them in order to make decisions on international competitions. But that’s my personal opinion on this situation,” Kamensky explained in an interview with Sport24.
We remind you that CSKA is obliged to submit the motivational part of its appeal against the withdrawal of goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov from international and national tournaments to the International Ice Hockey Federation within the next two weeks.
