Athletistic/Hockey. Sports law specialist Valery Fedoreev has expressed his thoughts on the possible consequences for CSKA if goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov, suspended by the International Ice Hockey Federation, takes part in the new KHL season.
“FHR is a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and has the right to organize the championship of Russia. However, it is transferred to the commercial league – the KHL. Thus, CSKA can become the winner of the KHL, but at the same time risks being deprived of the title of champion of Russia.
Currently, the FHR cannot register a contract with Fedotov due to his disqualification. He is not eligible to participate in KHL games. This four-month sentence entails a ban on registering a player, including CSKA,” Fedoreev said.
Earlier, a sports lawyer gave his predictions regarding possible sanctions that could be imposed on the Russian Ice Hockey Federation if goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov plays for CSKA in the KHL.
