The NHL has spoken about its plans for the league’s players to participate in the Olympics and the World Cup

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said the league is working to ensure players will be regular players at the Olympics beginning in 2026 and that they will compete in a World Cup between each Olympics. The words of the daily are quoted by journalist Dan Rosen on the social network.

The vice commissioner also said the NHL would like to have “some kind of international competition” in 2025, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it will be the Ice Hockey World Cup.

“We’ll see what form it takes, but we’re working with the players’ association on that,” Daly said.

Previously, the NHL announced the tournament in February 2024 in Europe and North America. It was later pushed back to 2025.
