Sibir defender Fedor Gordeev told that Severstal’s plan to play the pre-season tournament in Saint Petersburg came as a surprise for the Novosibirsk side.
On Wednesday, Sibir was beaten by Severstal (0:1) in the Nikolai Puchkov tournament. The next match the Novosibirsk team will play on August 25 against SKA.
We entered this game a little unprepared. The opponent’s game plan surprised us, they started to outplay us from the start. In this tournament, all opponents are strong. We don’t know which team to expect. If during the season you roughly understand how the opponent will play, then in the pre-season tournaments the teams change the schemes and compositions.
I have never played against the SKA. I heard they were a strong team. You have to be well prepared for the game against them,” Gordeev told .
For Gordeev, 24, the upcoming season will be the first in Russia. The Omsk native has previously played in North America and holds dual citizenship.
The Nikolai Puchkov tournament in St. Petersburg will end on August 26.
