Former Vice President of MagnitogorskMetallurgist » Gennady Velitchkin told a correspondent he didn’t believe in the Pittsburgh striker’s return Evgenia Malkina in Magnitka.
Last summer, Malkin signed a new contract with Pittsburgh until 2026. The 37-year-old Russian forward became a three-time Stanley Cup winner with the Penguins.
– In 2026, the Pittsburgh Pittsburgh contract with Evgeni Malkin ends. Do you think it’s worth waiting for the Magnitogorsk striker after his expiry?
– I doubt Malkin’s return. Zhenya had a very decent career, I don’t think Malkin will cheat hockey like that. There have been many injuries during his career. It’s hard to say what Zhenya will look like in 2026. But I don’t think he can help Metallurg yet, ”Velichkin told correspondent.
Malkin graduated from the Metallurg hockey school. He played for Magnitogorsk in 2003-06 and during the NHL lockout in the 2012-13 season.
