Forward “Severstal” Kirill Pilipenko I talked about leaving Andrei Razin as the club’s head coach.
Severstal last season, in the first round of the KHL playoffs, they were beaten by CSKA 3-4 in the series. In mid-March, Razin left the club Cherepovets, which he had managed since 2018. In April, the 49-year-old specialist signed a two-year contract with Metallurg. Severstal was led by Andrey Kozyrev.
– The team took off normally from Razin. Andrei Vladimirovich himself said that he wanted to take a step forward. With that, we said goodbye. Razin wanted to see me at Severstal long before my transfer? To be honest, I hadn’t even heard of it. Did you call Metallurg? No, he did not invite me to Magnitogorsk,” Pilipenko told the “Championship”.
The new KHL season will kick off on September 1 with the Cup opener between CSKA and Ak Bars. Severstal will open the season with a home game against Sochi on September 2.
