China’s Kunlun Red Star defeated China’s Khabarovsk Amur in the match for fifth place in the Moscow Mayor’s Cup.
The main time of the match ended with the score 3:3. The Kunlun players responded to Alex Broadhurst’s brace and Sergey Lapin’s puck with accurate shots from Jiang Fu, Kyle Wood and Luke Lockhart. Lockhart brought victory to the Chinese club in the penalty shootout.
In the final match, which will take place later on Sunday, Spartak and CSKA will face each other. In the match for third place, Dynamo Moscow will play with Vityaz.
The new KHL season will kick off on September 1 with the Cup opener between CSKA and Ak Bars.
