The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) wants to organize matches with NHL teams, but foreign clubs have no such plans, so talking about it is no longer relevant, says KHL President Alexei Morozov .
In the history of the existence of the leagues, only three matches have taken place between KHL and NHL clubs. The last of them took place in 2010 between SKA and Karolina.
– We ourselves offered to play games with NHL clubs. This task was set by management. The NHL wants to host games between its teams. We wanted our teams to face NHL clubs. We would like Dynamo to play with Washington, for example. We are interested in NHL clubs where many Russian stars are located. But NHL clubs have their own plans. Their championship starts late, in October. We have now postponed these conversations, – the correspondent of reports Morozov’s words.
The new KHL season will kick off on September 1 with the Cup opener between CSKA and Ak Bars.
