On Sunday evening August 27, Sochi hosted a warm and heartfelt team presentation before the start of the new season. It will be the tenth anniversary of the KHL team, and after several setbacks, when the Leopards finished the season at the end of February, everyone has high hopes for this season.
Sochi prepared a brilliant music program for fans, entertainment for young hockey fans and, of course, the most picturesque venue in the League – the scene on the Black Sea coast was truly magnificent in the rays of the sun setting.
– In the past, it was often said that hockey in Sochi was exotic. Where is Sochi and where is hockey? But in a few days our team will begin its tenth season in the KHL. And it’s the fans who have done a lot to make hockey no longer seen as exotic in the South. Thank you for this love and support! I will not rush to say phrases out loud about the Gagarin Cup – you need to stand firmly on the ground with both feet. I can only promise that our whole team will fight for victory in every game, we want you and we get only positive emotions from the game, – said Sochi head coach Dmitry Kokorev, who will play for the first time in his career. during the presentation, starting the season as the head coach of the KHL team.
The players took the stage, put on the club jersey, received a round of applause, only to find themselves later in a dense circle of supporters who came to the ceremony with the banner “We want the playoffs! The new season jerseys were presented to the players by head coach Dmitry Kokorev and deputy general manager of Sochi hockey operations, two-time Gagarin Cup winner Alexei Badyukov. The fans warmly welcomed the hockey players – both those who have spent more than one season at the club and those who have donned the Leopards uniform for the first time. The captain of Sochi will be experienced striker Kirill Rasskazov, for whom the upcoming season will be the first at the southern club.
During the ceremony, Sochi fans also got to know a player from the special team, La Liga Stavok, who will play under the number 08 in the 2023/24 season (2008 is the year of creation of the society). For the second consecutive season, the Liga Stavok betting company continues to support the Sochi hockey club as an official partner. The Leopards now have one more strong player!
After the end of the official game, fans of the team were able to enter the team locker room to treat themselves and their social media followers with exclusive photos.
On September 2, Sochi will start the season with a game in Cherepovets against Severstal. The southerners will play their first home game at the Bolshoi Sports Palace on September 15 against Sibir Novosibirsk.
