Chairman of the Board of DirectorsAvant-garde Mikhail Averin spoke about the goal for which the Omsk club enters the next KHL season.
Avangard won the Gagarin Cup in 2021 and won bronze medals last season by reaching the East final. In June, Averin was named the new Chairman of Avangard’s Board of Directors.
– Was it difficult to organize the presentation of Avangard on Omsk Cathedral Square, where 24,000 fans gathered?
“To organize such a grandiose event is worth a lot. Many thanks to the leaders of the Omsk region for their support. In general, all residents and fans deserve such a vacation. Recently we had a club board, where all tasks and goals were set.
– What is the point?
– A club like Avangard can only have one: the Gagarin Cup. I hope that together and together we will achieve this.
What is your hockey background? What connects you to this game?
— For me, hockey is part of my life. I have been involved in the CSKA system since I was seven years old, so I know everything first hand. Recently, I also practice this sport at the amateur level, we train.
— How often do you plan to attend Avangard games?
– I will attend all home matches of the “hawks”, without exception or excuse. The immersion will therefore take place at a high level and we will certainly see some away games as well.
– Should we expect a reinforcement, new transfers from Avangard?
– At the moment, we have full confidence in our sports block represented by general director Anton Kuryanov. A lot of work has been done at this point. Now let’s wait and be patient, we still have enough time before the December deadline,” quotes correspondent Averin.
Avangard will play the first game of the new KHL Championship at home on September 2 at 2:00 p.m. Moscow time against Sibir.
