“No one pressured the KHL, Fedotov’s contract with CSKA was registered after consultation with lawyers” – Morozov

KHL President Alexei Morozov said no one pressured the league when deciding whether or not to save the goalkeeper’s contract Ivan Fedotov with Moscow CSKA .

On August 14, the IIHF decided that CSKA goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov was suspended from September 1 until the end of 2023. At the same time, CSKA has been deprived of the right to make international transfers since August 11 for a year. Restrictions were imposed on Fedotov and the club due to his goalkeeping contract history: he signed a two-year contract with CSKA as part of the current one-year deal with Philadelphia from the NHL.

– Is it true that you were pressured to register Fedotov’s contract?

– We spoke with the club, found out they have an agreement. I spoke with Fedotov, asked him questions – what kind of notifications did he receive from the NHL, how did he talk with Philadelphia. No one pressured us. We paused to understand, asked about the NHL, Daly asked. Then they asked the hockey player if he wanted to play for CSKA. We registered his contract after consulting with lawyers, who said that we could do it, – the correspondent reports Morozov’s words.

The new KHL season will kick off on September 1 with the Cup opener between CSKA and Ak Bars.
