NHL website predicts Ovechkin’s points for new season

Official site journalists NHL expect Washington Capitals forwards Alexander Ovechkin in the new season will score 88 points.

Reason for optimism: The top scorer has crossed the 40-goal mark in the last five seasons in which he has played at least 50 games and scored 50 goals in two of those seasons. He ranks second in goals in NHL history with 822 goals in 1,347 games, just behind Wayne Gretzky (894 goals in 1,487 games), and has scored consistently throughout his career. Ovechkin is still a top 15 fantasy player and should be considered a minor option among the top five left wingers. NHL site forecast points – 88, – given in the material.

Journalists also predicted how many points another Russian striker from Washington, Evgeny Kuznetsov, would earn.

Reason for optimism: Kuznetsov led Washington in assists (43 in 81 games) last season and is second in points over the past three seasons combined (162 in 201 games), behind Ovechkin. Kuznetsov was second with the Capitals in shots on target (172). NHL.com points prediction: 59, reads the text.

In the 2022/23 regular season, Ovechkin scored 75 points (42+33) in the regular season, Kuznetsov scored 55 points (12+43).
