President of CH CSKA Igor Esmantovich said the club had lodged an appeal with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) in the case of the goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov .
Fedotov missed last season due to his military service. Currently, the hockey player is under sanctions imposed by the IIHF. As part of the disqualification, the FHR allowed the goalkeeper to play for CSKA only from January 1, 2024, but at the same time approved the military team’s application for the hockey player.
The restrictions were imposed due to the goalkeeper’s contract history: he signed a two-year deal with CSKA Moscow as part of the current one-year deal with NHL Philadelphia. Earlier, League President Alexei Morozov said that CSKA could not declare Fedotov for KHL matches under disqualification.
Earlier on Friday, it became known that Fedotov will still play against SKA in the opener of the new KHL season.
