“Ak Bars” repeated the KHL record, winning the season opener for the third time. Previously, the Tatarstan club won the Opening Cup in 2009/2010 beating Lokomotiv 3-2 in extra time and in 2020/2021 also beating CSKA 3-2 in extra time.
Previously, the disc belonged only to Dynamo Moscow. Muscovites won the Opening Cup in the 2010/2011 seasons beating Ak Bars 3-1, in 2012/2013 beating Avangard 3-2 in a shootout, and the following season beating “Tractor” 5: 1.
