Athletistic/Hockey. Nikolai Feoktistov, executive vice-president of the Kunlun Red Star club, has expressed his position regarding the rumors about the club’s possible exit from the Continental Hockey League (KHL) due to sanctions imposed by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF ) in relation to the situation. around CSKA goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov.
Fedotov was suspended for four months by the IIHF, but despite this, the Russian Hockey Federation (FHR), KHL and CSKA insisted on his participation in the Cup opener against Ak Bars on September 1. In this regard, rumors circulated about a possible withdrawal of foreign clubs from the KHL.
Feoktistov said there was no cause for concern at the moment and the Kunlun Red Star club complied with IIHF and KHL regulations. He pointed out that so far there are no indications that the Chinese club’s participation in the KHL is under threat. Feoktistov also noted that so far no request from the IIHF has come to the club.
He pointed out that foreign clubs participate in the KHL with the consent of their national federations, which are interested in their participation, and therefore sees no reason for a conflict between the IIHF and China. Feoktistov concluded that at the moment it was just talk and nothing more.
