Nichushkin became the owner of the Stanley Cup, but will not be able to bring the trophy back to Russia

The Tampa Bay Lightning lost to the Colorado Avalanche in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals series. The match ended with the score of 1:2.

Colorado won the series 4-2 on aggregate to win the Stanley Cup. As part of the Avalanche, the Russian forward became the winner of the season Valery Nichushkin .

According to the established tradition, each player of the winner obtains the right to bring the Stanley Cup back to his native country. However, Nichushkin won’t be able to do so, as the NHL previously banned the export of the Stanley Cup to Russia this year.

Over the past five years, the Stanley Cup has come to Russia when it has been won by Andrey Vasilevsky, Nikita Kucherov, Mikhail Sergachev (2020, 2021, Tampa Bay), Alexander Volkov (2020, Tampa Bay), Vladimir Tarasenko, Ivan Barbashev (2019, St. Louis), Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Dmitry Orlov (2018, Washington), Evgeni Malkin (2016, 2017, Pittsburgh), Sergey Gonchar (2017 – as a coach, Pittsburgh).

Colorado won the Stanley Cup for the third time in its history.
