Ruslan Amirov, father of a former hockey player “Salavata Yulaeva” Rodrion Amirova delivered a speech at the ceremony of raising the jersey with number 27 under the arches of the Ufa hockey arena.
In February 2022, the 21-year-old was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The death of Rodion Amirov became known on August 14.
On Monday, before the Fonbet KHL championship match against Metallurg, Salavat Yulaev removed the number under which Amirov played for the club and raised his match jersey to the vaults of the local arena.
“On behalf of our entire family, I want to thank everyone for the honor given to our son.” What happened today is not just about sport. This is something more important and more precious to our family.
Rodion was at the age when his career was just beginning. It seems to me that it is a symbol of the victory of life over death. The victory of a person’s courage over a serious illness. And the realization of a young boy’s dream.
This arena has become his family. One day he came here to make his dream come true. But God has his own plan for each of us in life. And quite recently we all together, as one family, accompanied him from here. And that is very valuable to us. I say our immense parental thanks for being with us throughout this difficult time. And they shared this pain,” Ruslan Amirov said.
Rodion Amirov was buried in the village of Bogdanovka, Ishimbay district.
