Goalie Anton Khudobin explained to why he decided to continue his career at the Sokol club in Krasnoyarsk.
In September, the 37-year-old goalie joined the All-Russian Hockey League (VHL) team as a free agent. The Russian’s last club in the NHL was the Chicago Blackhawks, and he also played for the Rockford IceHogs farm club in the AHL.
— Krasnoyarsk is my mother’s homeland, she is from here. The choice therefore fell on this city. It’s a happy coincidence. Additionally, we played together with Alexander Semin in Carolina. For two years, he talked to me a lot about this city.
I wanted to play. Play again. And I didn’t have the principle that if I didn’t have a contract in the KHL, I wouldn’t play at all.
— Have there been any offers from the KHL? If there are offers, will you consider them?
— I always consider offers. Now, for now, I have to play here. And then we will consider other options. Well, how should I look at it…if there are other suggestions, I’ll think about it. Otherwise, they will play a season here,” Khudobin said in the “Glomko” show on .
As a member of the Russian national team, Khudobin became the 2014 world champion.
