Forward of the SKA hockey club Matvei Mishkov was again loaned to Sochi, the head coach of the St. Petersburg team announced Romain Rotenberg .
— Matvey Michkov will continue the season in Sochi on loan. I think it’s the right decision – Matvey has his whole career ahead of him, now he has to play a lot with men, toughen up. In Sochi he will have such an opportunity. We talked a lot with Matvey and came to a mutual decision that this was the best option for his career.
Michkov is a first or second line, first or second majority player. We do not want to marinate Matvey in reserve, we wish him maximum progress. We will closely monitor his game and at the first opportunity we will be happy to see him in St. Petersburg. See you on the ice! — wrote Rotenberg on the Telegram channel.
This season, 18-year-old Michkov played one match for SKA in the Fonbet KHL championship, without scoring a goal. The forward missed three more regular season games without making the St. Petersburg squad.
Last season, Michkov already played for “Sochi” on a rental basis. In total, the hockey player has 20 points (9 goals + 11 assists) in 27 KHL matches for the Sochi club.
In the 2023 NHL Draft, the Russian player was selected seventh overall by the Philadelphia Flyers.
