Athletistic/Hockey. Famous Soviet hockey player Boris Mayorov expressed his appreciation for the statement of the President of the International Hockey Federation Luc Tardif regarding possible sanctions against the Russian Hockey Federation (RHF), CSKA and player Ivan Fedotov due to of his participation in KHL matches.

Mayorov emphasized that in the current situation almost anything can be expected from the International Federation. He also noted that players and coaches generally do not participate in such discussions and that decisions are made at the discretion of the federation. Mayorov felt that there had been a lack of dialogue with Philadelphia at the start of this process and that CSKA’s management may have been too ambitious in this situation. Esmantovich, according to Mayorov, does not behave like a thoughtful leader. He may not know Tardif, but he certainly knows that he is president of the International Federation. For some reason, the Attorney General’s Office got involved in this matter.

Mayorov believes that, of course, one must protect one’s own, but one must also determine what can be done and what cannot be done.

According to him, it would be better to start negotiations with Philadelphia and offer them the opportunity to prepare Ivan Fedotov to play in the NHL after a year spent in the Russian league. Mayorov also believes that the intervention of the International Federation in this dispute in this context is not entirely justified, since neither Philadelphia nor the NHL are members of this federation.

Mayorov stressed that there were two key aspects to this situation: an unsuccessful attempt to reach an agreement with Philadelphia and the intervention of the International Federation. He stressed that the IIHF is not directly linked to the contracts concluded between the NHL and Russian clubs and therefore in this situation it was necessary to give the clubs the opportunity to resolve issues among themselves.
